The Lead Network Automation Engineer will guide an Intelligence Community (IC) organization through a technical transformation, implementing advanced network monitoring tool suites. This role involves designing, transitioning, operating, and continually improving the organization's Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), Unified Communications (UC), Video Teleconferencing (VTC), Streaming, and other services, using expertise in at least one relevant toolset.
Responsibilities:
Lead small teams to integrate systems and automate common processes
Engineer and enhance various Cisco network monitoring tools
Design and implement integrations/orchestrations using Ansible, Python, Terraform, Azure Cloud Automation, and other tools
Integrate network and other monitoring tools with ServiceNow or other ITSM suites
Develop end-to-end CI/CD and testing workflows for system, integration, and pre-production validations
Develop and peer-review unit test automation code to ensure functionality meets requirements
Document and review operational procedures
Provide technical support for existing automation routines, including troubleshooting and error correction
Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities for automation
Influence others regarding system design, solutions, and procedures
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree with 8 years of relevant experience; OR High School/GED with 12 years of experience; OR Associate's degree with 10 years of experience; OR Master's Degree with 5 years of experience; OR PhD with 3 years of experience
Active TS/SCI Clearance (Counter Intelligence (CI) Polygraph preferred)
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Professional (CCNP) certification or higher
Experience in supporting/engineering IC applications and networks
Proficiency in administering network automation tools such as:
Network Node Manager (NNMi)
HP Network Automation (HPNA)
ServiceNow IT Operations & Asset Management
Splunk Enterprise
NETSCOUT nGeniusONE
Grey Matter
Experience administering Windows Server OS, including automatic device recovery scripting
Experience writing automation scripts using Ansible or Linux, especially for data ingestion/integration
Experience in network integration/testing in laboratory environments
Experience automating ticketing, inventory management, router/switch configuration, change detection, policy enforcement, STIG application, and/or change scheduling processes
Experience automating technical processes to achieve a positive business impact through systems integration and custom scripting in one of the following programming languages: C#, SQL, Java, Python, and/or R
Background as a network engineer with familiarity in infrastructure, standards, best practices, etc.
