Senior Project Manager (DOE Experience)

Senior Project Manager (DOE Experience)

This position provides senior leadership for Project Management/Project Controls contracts and activities. Responsible for execution of current contracts in the Project Management business area (projects and tasks) and for supporting marketing and business development efforts to pursue business growth opportunities. This position reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer.

Responsibilities:

· Experienced as a senior project manager supporting both federal and commercial clients.

· Able to lead a team of project management and project controls specialists to support federal government and commercial projects.

· Able to establish and integrate EVMS systems for major projects (must understand EIA 748 and be able to implement EIA guidelines).

· Leads development of EVMS tools for Life Cycle and Contract Performance Baseline (including WBS dictionaries, risk register, etc.) for large complex Engineering, Technical, and Scientific Projects under DOE 413.3B and related DOE/GAO guides for risk, scheduling, estimating, etc.

· Experienced in project performance status reporting (cost-schedule variance, technical issues, etc.).

· Able to establish and maintain the Baseline Change control system and lead the development of change proposals.

· Understands client’s systems and needs (gap analysis) and develops solutions.

· Strong communication skills with staff, clients, and stakeholders.

· Able to develop and implement training for the team staff and the client’s staff as needed.

· Able to meet with prospective clients and persuasively communicate a value proposition to secure new work.

· Responsible for client relations and expanding current contracts in the Project Management business area.

Requirements:

· Must be an expert-level user of standard project management tools, specifically Microsoft Project and Primavera P6.

· At least 10 years of experience in Project Management and Project Controls in the federal sector (with experience supporting U.S. Department of Energy projects).

· Bachelor’s degree (or commensurate experience) in a technical area related to Project Management.

· Demonstrated technical skills in Project Management including familiarity with DOE, NRC, and GAO requirements and expectations.

· Demonstrated experience and success in executing large complex projects.

· Must be able to obtain US Government Security Clearance at the DOE Q level.

Other notes:

· Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing plus advanced presentation skills are required. High-level proficiency is essential in Microsoft software, at a minimum Word, Excel, and Power Point.

· Must be able to work well in a team-oriented environment.

· Some travel to work locations is required, particularly when beginning a new contract and establishing relationships with new clients.

· Active security clearance is highly preferred.
